Before “Happy Hour” meant great deals on your favorite cocktail, Shakespeare coined the term to mean “scheduled period of entertainment.” Since the dawn of civilization, we have always made time away from work to simply be entertained or to entertain. Our version of entertainment? Hanging out with loves ones by the lake. Bring your whole group out to “Happy Hours” to entertain friends and family on the large deck, while cooking in the kitchen with tons of bar seating and a cozy fireplace or lounging in the sunroom discussing your latest reads. Of course, the best entertainment is jumping in the lake and sunbathing on the dock. There is no shortage of entertaining spaces here at Happy Hours.
When you are finally ready to leave the house and go out to explore, you will find the enchanting and serene New River Valley. You’ll be only 10 minutes away from Thee Draper Village (coffee shoppe, restaurant, tea room, shopping, and access to the scenic New River Trail for hiking and biking), 20 minutes away from Claytor Lake State Park (boat rentals, hiking trails, public beach), and 30 minutes away Foster Falls State Park (horseback riding, river access, trails). The New River Valley is home to lots of wineries and distilleries and several golf courses. Take a day trip to Blacksburg for eclectic dining and entertainment, only 45 minutes away.
** Note on Dock **
Happy Hours is located on the side of the lake closest to the mouth of the river and sediment tends to accumulate on this half of the lake more causing areas with a shallow depth. While we recommend only using the dock for fishing, swimming, and non-motorized boating (kayaks, canoes, paddle boards), you are welcome to bring a motorized boat to this area. That being said, we only recommend doing so if you are familiar with Claytor Lake and/or familiar with how to navigate lakes that have shoals. Off the dock, the water depth at full pond is about 5 to 7 feet and there are tie-offs available.
Don't forget the whole family - Happy Hours welcomes your pet! Add your pet at check out for $25/night/pet.
