Kayoulah Corn Crib dates back to pre-Civil War times and was built as part of the mining operations surrounding Boone Furnace. Boone Furnace is a unique piece of history because it's the only historic furnace in Virginia that still has the original buildings that surround it. A general store called the commissary and the Superintendents house have also been preserved.
Kayoulah Corn Crib has been carefully restored in order to preserve it's original integrity and make this vacation getaway a living piece of history. Today, you are sure to hear birdsong, the rippling creek, and a chorus of insects in the distance. One hundred years ago, you may have seen the billowing iron ore furnace sending ribbons of smoke into the blue sky or heard the nostalgic whistle of a train as it rumbled down the tracks.
The former corn crib has been transformed from a barn into a spacious mountain retreat with an open, airy floor plan that is a perfect place for gatherings. Kayoulah Corn Crib is surrounded by a vineyard, farmland and Little Reed Island Creek winds it's way through the property.
Kayoulah Corn Crib has the intrigue of a historic structure with all the modern amenities for a relaxing mountain getaway.
